Job Summary:
We are currently looking for an Accounts Clerk to join a dynamic team in the North of Mauritius. The selected candidate will be primarily responsible for issuing receipts for all payments received, managing CIM transactions, handling banking, and overseeing debtors management. The ideal candidate must demonstrate accuracy, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of accounting principles.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure all company procedures, policies, and standards are adhered to for smooth and efficient accounting operations.
- Handle all banking activities efficiently and in a timely manner.
- Reconcile bank statements regularly and make necessary adjustments to ensure alignment with the cash book.
- Issue and send Statements of Account to all customers.
- Respond to customer queries by sending copies of invoices, bank details, and account statements as required.
- Prepare documents related to TDS (Tax Deducted at Source) and LD (Liquidated Damages).
- Verify that credit agreements are correctly completed in duplicate and liaise with signatories before granting credit facilities.
- Review and release sales orders after checking credit limits and obtaining management approval where needed.
- Maintain a well-organized customer database:
- Ensure all credit clients have valid applications on file
- No outstanding balances for cash clients
- Ensure corporate clients are compliant with VAT & BRN requirements
- Block duplicate customer records in the system
- Maintain a structured filing system with proper documentation for payment advices, invoices, and SOAs.
- Actively chase and follow up on outstanding debtors.
- Prepare and update relevant accounting schedules upon request from the Head of Department.
- Provide backup support to the Accounts Manager during staff absences.
- Perform any other accounting or administrative duties as requested by the Head of Department.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Higher School Certificate (HSC) with Accounting or a Degree in Accounting/Finance
- 23 years of experience in a similar accounting role
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Detail-oriented and highly organized
- Strong understanding of accounting terms and concepts
