Job Purpose:
To ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the kitchen and dining areas by maintaining cleanliness and sanitation, managing inventory and supplies, assisting kitchen staff with food preparation, and providing support to the food and beverage team. Stewards play a vital role in upholding hygiene standards, organizing workspaces, and contributing to a positive guest experience.
Key duties :
- Ensure that all company policies, procedures & SOPs are adhered to
- Cleaning of all kitchen walk-in fridges, freezers, utensils, equipment, stoves, tabletops, under fridges, surface tops, extraction unit and ovens.
- Maintaining cleanliness of dry store
- Floors are swept and scrubbed.
- Scullery area is always kept organised and clean.
- Segregates & moves garbage to designated containers.
- Ensure refuse area and passageway is kept clean and in order.
- Unpacking deliveries and organizing food storage areas
- Washes & peels vegetables when instructed by Senior Chef
- To continually maintain the highest standards of hygiene within the property
- Report all equipment problems and maintenance issues, known safety hazards, or unsafe practices and procedures to supervisor immediately.
- Health & safety standards as per HACCP are adhere to
- Comply with standards of service.
- Any other duties that may be required.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience as a steward or in a similar role within a hotel.
- Familiarity with stewarding duties, cleaning practices, and the proper use of detergents and cleaning agents.
- Committed to conserving energy by switching off lights and equipment when not in use, and conserving water wherever possible to support sustainability efforts.
- Skilled in the correct segregation and disposal of waste, ensuring cans, bottles, and trash are placed in appropriate bins to promote environmental responsibility.
- Efficiently manages tasks and maintains composure in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Provides courteous and supportive assistance to departments and team members, enhancing the overall service experience.
- Demonstrates a proactive and optimistic approach to work, contributing to a positive workplace atmosphere.
- Collaborates effectively with colleagues to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Acts in good faith and consistently prioritizes the best interests of the company.
- Willing and able to work various shifts as required by operational needs.
