Bakery assistants assist bakers and pastry chefs by understanding the running of the operation and
helping/assisting in production where necessary. The assistant baker will be under the supervision of
both the head baker and head of pastry. The assistant baker will follow all guidelines from their
supervisors in creating and producing all necessary items.
Duties and Responsibilities:
-Assisting the head baker for the production of all baked items.
-Take over when necessary, in case of absences.
-Collaborate with the pastry team and help where required.
-Be involved in all productions for the restaurant and catering.
-Understand the importance of being on time in a bakery.
-Constantly aiming to produce the best quality of fresh baked goods.
-Tracking ingredient expiry dates and arranging their use accordingly.
-Monitoring the visual appeal and the availability of baked goods.
-Reporting low baked goods stock to the Baker in a timely manner.
-Maintaining a clean and tidy bakery.
-Cleaning the kitchen after business hours and preparing it for the next day.
Requirements and Qualifications
-High school diploma or equivalent
-Previous experience in a kitchen environment preferred
-Able to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask
-Must be able to follow instructions and adhere to food safety guidelines
-Knowledge of kitchen equipment and tools
-Excellent organizational and communication skills
Salary Range and Working Hours
-MUR 13, 000 as basic salary
-Morning: Monday to Saturday - 9hrs - 16hrs
-Night Shift: Tuesday to Saturday - Catering
-Closed on Sundays and Public Holidays
