Role purpose:
We are looking for an experienced and qualified Head Chef to organize the kitchens activities. You will
be the second in command in the facilities reporting directly to the Executive chef as well as
management . You will be responsible for the daily operations of the kitchen, creating new dishes in
collaboration with the Executive chef and Head Of Operations. Your key responsibilities will be to
ensure a smooth operation for the daily running of the kitchen as well as very tight stock management.
Duties and Responsibilities
-Control and direct the food preparation process and any other relative activities
-Construct menus with new or existing culinary creations ensuring the variety and quality of the servings
-Approve and polish dishes before they reach the customer
-Work in close collaboration with the purchasing manager to ensure availability of stock at all times.
-Arrange for repairs when necessary
-Remedy any problems or defects
-Oversee the work of subordinates
-Estimate staffs workload and compensations
-Have flexibility for special customer requirements (dietary, allergies ect)
-Maintain records of absences and report to management any staff issues.
-Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
-Foster a climate of cooperation and respect between coworkers as well as maintaining a healthy work atmosphere.
Requirements and Qualifications
-Proven experience as Head Chef
-Exceptional proven ability of kitchen management
-Ability in dividing responsibilities and monitoring progress
-Outstanding communication and leadership skills
-Up-to-date with culinary trends and optimized kitchen processes
-Good understanding of useful computer programs (MS Office, restaurant -management software, POS)
-Credentials in health and safety training
-Degree in Culinary science or related certificate
Salary Range and Working Hours
-MUR 40,000 - 50,000 as basic salary
-Morning: Monday to Saturday - 9hrs - 16hrs
-Night Shift: Tuesday to Saturday (shift basis)
-Closed on Sundays and Public Holidays
