Job Description: Kitchen Helper
Position Overview: Kitchen Helpers provide crucial support to the kitchen staff by assisting with various tasks that contribute to smooth kitchen operations. They are responsible for ingredient preparation, dishwashing, and maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen. Kitchen Helpers work under the guidance of the kitchen team and play an essential role in ensuring efficient food service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the kitchen staff in food preparation tasks, such as chopping, cutting, and measuring ingredients.
- Clean, peel, and slice vegetables according to established standards.
- Prepare food items, such as salads and dressings, as directed by the kitchen staff.
- Wash, peel, and sanitize kitchen tools, equipment, and utensils.
- Operate and maintain kitchen appliances, including blenders, food processors, and dishwashers.
- Ensure all dishes, glassware, and silverware are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized.
- Organize and stock ingredients, supplies, and equipment in designated storage areas.
- Help with unloading and storing food deliveries.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the kitchen, including following proper sanitation procedures and health codes.
- Dispose of waste and recycling according to established guidelines.
- Assist in maintaining inventory levels by conducting stock checks and notifying supervisors of shortages.
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Prior experience in a kitchen or food service setting is preferred but not required.
- Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift heavy items when necessary.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in completing tasks.
