Purpose of the Role
The Face-to-Face Fundraiser will play a vital role in building and sustaining Greenpeace Africa's supporter base through face-to-face engagement with the public. This role focuses on signing up new regular donors to fund Greenpeace Africa's independent environmental campaigns while serving as an ambassador for the organisation's mission. The fundraiser will work as part of a dynamic team to achieve fundraising targets through strategic dialogue, effective communication, and relationship building with potential supporters.
The role effectively communicates Greenpeace Africa's campaigns to the general public, inspiring action and financial support for environmental protection. The fundraiser will contribute to the organisation's financial independence by securing monthly donations that enable Greenpeace Africa to maintain its integrity and carry out critical campaign work across the continent.
Main Duties
- Fundraising and Getting New Donors
- Sign up two or more new monthly donors each day
- Work with your team to meet fundraising targets
- Talk to people in assigned locations and explain Greenpeace Africa's mission
- Use the fundraising methods and talking points we provide
- Always be respectful and follow Greenpeace values
Sharing Campaign Information
- Learn about Greenpeace Africa's current environmental campaigns
- Explain to people what we're working on and how their donations help
- Represent Greenpeace Africa professionally
- Share feedback about what the public thinks about our campaigns
Working with Your Team
- Report your daily and weekly results to your Team Leader
- Help your teammates reach their goals
- Help train new team members
- Stay in touch with your team throughout the day
- Join team meetings to discuss challenges and celebrate wins
Paperwork and Rules
- Fill out daily and weekly forms correctly
- Keep accurate time records and submit them after each shift
- Share feedback about your work locations
- Follow all Greenpeace standards and policies
Qualifications and Experience
- Excellent oral communication skills with the ability to be inspiring, persuasive, and build rapport with diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to meet fundraising targets and work effectively with deadlines.
- Experience in face-to-face fundraising, sales, or public engagement (advantageous).
- Experience working in teams and taking on leadership responsibilities.
- Self-confidence and resilience - the ability to remain motivated and professional even when facing rejection.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Outgoing personality with a positive attitude and high energy levels.
- Ability to work independently with professionalism, reliability, and punctuality.
- Flexibility to adapt to continuously changing shifts and work schedules.

Working Conditions
Hours: 40 hours per week. Work is primarily conducted outdoors in various public locations across Mauritius.
